The coronavirus outbreak of 2019/2020 has changed how we go about living. Staying quarantined at home away from friends, family and people is hard. While I know and understand how difficult these times are, I encourage you to look at it with refection instead of dread and fear.
We typically live in a world that is so fast paced. We rush from one moment to the next not really taking any time to enjoy life for what it can be. We live in a world of instant gratification with the need to experience fulfillment without any kind of delay or wait. We want what we want and we want it now! We think success is only possible if it comes easy. Then throw in difficult circumstances or obstacles and we deem ourselves defeated practically before we even start.
Being sheltered in place has forced us all to slow down. While we have this down time, use it to reflect on your life and where you are. Then think about where you’d like to be and what you need to do to get there. Every morning we wake up to a new day and we have a choice as to what direction that day goes. We get to choose what we wear, what to do, what to think. So much of our lives is determined by the choices we make.
I’m not discounting the fact that there are times when difficult, uncontrollable circumstances come crashing into our lives. Yes, those hard times happen, BUT, there is still power in how we choose to deal with those circumstances. Even within this pandemic, constrained to stay home away from others we can choose how to deal with the circumstances at hand. Will it be a time to dread, with loneliness, fear, and anxiety or time of reflection, growth, and hope.
The older I get the more I have began to really realize how much power I have in the choices I make through out each day and how they affect my life. Using wisdom in our choices means living more profoundly than just what we feel, think or want. When we choose to use wisdom in our ever day choices we’re making a decision to do now what will reap a harvest later on. So the many small decisions we make every day add up and significantly impact our lives.
So during this time when have no choice but to slow down, take a step back, take a deep breath and reflect on your life. See how you can grow and make daily choices to impact your life to soar to new places, dreams and goals. Figure out what you need to do to accomplish those dreams and goals and set a plan in motion to get there.
Before we know it the virus will be gone and life as will get back to normal. Will you grow from the experience and soar to new possibilities? Or fall back into old habits rushing from one moment to the next not really taking any time to enjoy life for what it can be? The answer remains in the choices you decide to follow through with each and every day.
If you feel motivated to press forward to new possibilities then check out my next blog, I will be writing about “See How You Can Take your Life From Ordinary to EXTRAORDINARY.”
To all the people affected by this horrible virus and lost someone from it please know my heartfelt sorrow pours out to you and I pray God sends his love, and comfort to surround you!
