Just How Far is the East From the West?

in Encouragement on 05/08/12

Psalm 103:12  “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Have you ever truly put deep thought in to just how far the east is from the west?  Casting Crowns has a song called, “East to West,” and one day as I listened to it, it really made me think. Just how far is the East to the West? The East will never meet West – It’s a continuous never ending circle. I’ve heard that analogy so many times, and I’ve known the answer. Just never really did any real, deep in my heart, meditating about it. This never ending continuous circle where east never meets west, means our transgressions (our sin) have been removed an immeasurable distance from us. Immeasurable – there is no distance so far. They are cast so far that they will never come back. They’re gone, never to be seen again and trouble us. Imagine the freedom….. freedom from guilt, from sorrow, from pain, from judgement! Thanks to Jesus sin has been taken away and forgotten –

In life we all go through tough circumstances because of things we wish we could take back.  Then we are left with unfortunate outcomes that torment us day and night. While we can’t go back in time and change the past we can change the future. The past is exactly what it says it is, passed by and gone. Change the future by asking God to forgive you for messing up, on whatever it may be, in Jesus name. Then sit somewhere quiet and reflect on that continuous circle where the east never meets west, picture your mess up disappearing to a place that’s an immeasurable distance from you. Reflect on the freedom you’ll began to feel as it disappears as if it never happened. That’s how much God loves us. Allow your circumstances to live in the freedom of Christ instead of the torment of what happened yesterday. Everyday when we wake up we are given new mercies from God to start fresh. Take today to start believing in those mercies rather than believing in defeat. You are free in Christ. Allow yourself to live it.
