It’s amazing to me how the “busy”ness of everyday life can make you loose track of the real important things in life. You fall into this same old same old routine of going about your business and get so caught up in what you are doing the small things seem to fade away. I know I’m guilty of it. When my accident first happened the small important things in life were SO obvious and plain to see. Then year after year life goes on, and although now different, you fall back into everyday routines and they begin to slip away again.
What do I mean about the small important things? It really varies for all of us day by day, but it can be most anything… Mainly, it’s taking short moments during your busy routine to notice and appreciate the beauty of a sunset or a sunrise, the smell of a beautiful flower, the simply gesture from a loved one, or the significance of a beautiful mountain scape.
Have you ever really stopped to think about the majesty of God in these things? Gods creations are so powerful, beautiful, and humbling. It’s hard to wrap your mind around just how infinitely huge our universe is and the beauty within it. When you gaze upon the magnificent stars at night you don’t really think about the power and intensity behind them. You only see the shinny light flashing up above you. To take a moment to gaze upon a starry night or smell a beautiful rose in itself is so small and simple… but to take that small moment and ponder in the true depth of that beauty is far more powerful.
I love taking small moments all throughout the day to rest from the everyday go, go, go and hustle and bustle to just stop and gaze upon one of God’s marvelous creations. In the moment I just take time to thank Him. Thank Him for the beauty that surounds me, and the amazing and powerful “Hallelujah” moments of His creations. I also take time to ask Him to forgive me for all the times I take it for granted and over look His majesty that surrounds me everyday.
Taking time, even if for only a minute, to take notice of the beauty all around you is powerful. It helps you to appreciate life, see beauty and power and find peace and thankfulness. Everyday start to purposefully take time to stop and take a moment to look around you and notice the small things. They may be small, but the wisdom and glory that you will receive from them is much more rewarding and irresistible. Once you start it will be something you come to love every day and make a point of doing.
