Storms are powerful and can be destructive. When a tornado has hit a town and destroys everything if you look at the big picture and the mass of destruction it may feel like there’s too much to endure and overcome. You feel lost and you don’t know where to start to begin to rebuild your life again. Similarly, when bad circumstances hit us in our personal lives it can feel like we are right in the middle of one of those storms.
One of the worst storms of my life was when I was paralyzed from the shoulders down. It was like a tornado came into my life and it shook everything up and nothing landed back where it belongs. When I looked at the big picture it was too overwhelming. When these storms are crashing down around us how do we bounce back and stay positive and happy through it?
OVERCOMING STORMS IN LIFE
When it stays gloomy outside from rain it may drag you down, make you you feel dreary, or dampen your mood. When we have something bad going on in our life it also seems to drag us down, depress us, and dampen our mood. One of my favorite quotes is, “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, but about learning how to dance in the rain”. I have always been a positive person. Even when bad circumstances come my way I’ll get down for a minute, but have always been able to bounce back quickly. I’m happy about that because being paralyzed isn’t something you can just make go away or fix. You have to ride out the storm no matter how long it lasts.
We need to realize that our circumstances do not have to control our emotions. It may be storming and poring down rain, but we can learn how stay positive and focus on what is good in our lives! Why live a miserable life depressed, sad, and hurting when instead I can choose to dance through it and make the absolute best of it.
I encourage you to do the same. I think you will discover you have the strength to dance through the rain too. So no matter what is going on in your life turn on some music and dance your heart out. Pretend you’re a child again with no inhibitions and just let go and dance like no one is watching. It will release stress and worry and jiggle your way into happiness!
